The perfect red lip

How to create the perfect red lip: my favourite products

A red lip can be a lot of things, but one thing is clear, a red lip gives your self-esteem a boost. A red lip is just super sexy.

The right preparation is very important if you want to have a smooth red lip. You don´t want little pieces of dry skin pop out under your red lipstick. To avoid dehydrated skin I am using a lip scrub twice a week. It gets rid of all dryness and old skin of your lip.
This one is by lush and tastes like bubblegum which is awesome!

Before applying your lipstick always use lip balm or lip butter to give your lips moisture. This also avoids that your lipstick settles in the little folds of your lip.

This step is a must do! if you apply a bold lipstick you should always line your lips. Select a lipliner which is the same color or close to the color of the lipstick your are going to wear.
If it´s not the same color, smooth out the harsh lines with a pencil brush or your fingers.

To get the look of a fuller lip use a very light color and place it in the center of your lip (bottom lip and upper lip- only in the center. This works like a natural highlight and gives the illusion of a fuller lip.

Obviously, you should have chosen a lipstick color before applying a lipliner. So this is just to give you an idea of a few lipsticks I love to use when I go for a bright red lip.

The first swatch you see here is a lipstick by P2 in the color 080 via montenapoleone. The 2nd one is by MAC in the color ruby woo EA3. This lipstick has a matt finish. The next one is also by P2 and is a bit more dark than the first one. This is the color red square. If you want to go for a more glittery look the Soft Sensation lip color butter in the color 015 by astor is the go to product for you.

I hope this blogpost useful for you. Leave a comment if you liked it and if you want me to do another red lip blogpost with more darker colors, berry tones. Let me know what you think.

Thank you for reading,
Love, Kim x
